America Elected a Fascist

The rest of the world knows just how badly America screwed up here. Like my friend from Galway said, Ireland is going to be the stronghold of the left while the rest of the world goes ultra red. This whole situation defies belief.

Independence Day Speech: Modernized

The fact that this is a flawless reflection of our current society is so sad.

Scots on Trump

Everything is so much better with angry Scottish slang. Cheetoh-faced, ferret-wearing shitgibbon is officially the best description of Trump. Ever.

Brexit Fiasco

I really didn't see this coming...I thought the majority would have more sense. What a shitstorm this is going to be. I thought that Americans had the western world monopoly on mass stupidity and ignorance but apparently the English were just hiding theirs better. These idiots are the equivalent of Trump supporters with the same "make UK great again even though we have no defnitive plans for how to do so" rhetoric. I desperately hope that Americans show more intelligence in November!

Biraciality

This is just ridiculous. Taye is completely in the right and I fully support his comments. The PC police getting bent out of shape over this are what's wrong with the state of "political correctness" these days. PC used to be about not being cruel, but at this stage, it's taken way too far and is used to whine about every little thing. Taye is 100% correct - we don't have a "black" president; we have a biracial president. His son is not black, he's biracial (I prefer bi/multiracial to "mixed" but whatever). How have we gotten to the point where wanting that to be acknowledged is a bad thing?? It's completely absurd. Diversity isn't black and white; it's about appreciating ALL aspects of EVERYONE.

Marriage Equality At Last

OMG AMERICA WE DID IT!!! So Ireland beat us to it, which is sad, but AT LONG LAST our government has done the right thing. Redneck states will no longer be able to deny people the right to marry based on their backwards beliefs. This is not a theocracy. Marriage rights are NOT an exclusive privilege to be determined by the state and the rights of citizens may not be governed by religious rules. The fact that this was even a question in the first place is a travesty but I'm so glad the day's finally here. I'm not even gay/bi/trans myself and I just about burst into tears, been waiting so long for this on behalf of my LGBT friends! This is the first time in a long time I'm feeling DAMN PROUD OF THIS COUNTRY.

Feel the Fear

Let's face it, the 90s was the Golden Age for kids' entertainment. Children today watch either peewee versions of soap operas full of superficial people and problems or cartoons so stupid and mindless I'm surprised their brains survive it. There hasn't been a terrifying show for kids like Are You Afraid of the Dark? in a solid decade. What about fun, creative shows like Land of the Lost or Salute Your Shorts? What about the brilliant and INTELLIGENT cartoons like Rugrats and Hey Arnold? Kids today are treated like first degree wusses who can't handle anything that challenges them to think or use their imaginations, and it's absolutely tragic that they'll never know classics like this.

Picard Speaks Out

Gene Roddenberry (and, by extension, characters like Jean Luc Picard) will always be a powerful inspiration for freethought. If by chance we don't go extinct first, someday humanity will be looking back across the stars and saying the same thing about 21st Century Earth, and that is an encouraging thought.

Abuse of Faith

"State government should not be forcing people to make a choice between making a living and violating their own faith."

If your faith dictates that you treat other law-abiding humans like second class citizens, then you should reevaluate your source of morality. I support everyone having their own personal beliefs as long as it makes them good people (sadly rare). I certainly don't support using religion as a crutch to absolve yourself of blame for douchebag behavior and bigotry. That said, bringing public attention to their ignorance is the way to go, NOT lawsuits. Call them out with a warning, try to educate them. Giving them information and a chance to make it right would be setting a much better example than simply slapping them with heavy fines.

God's Omniscience

Ugh, it's painful to watch. This 8 year old is so smart and articulate, and all these two morons can do is sit there and babble the same nonsense over and over.
